Story
I am off to the wilderness of Borneo for 13 days for Greenpeace’s Borneo Jungle Challenge 2012!
Here I will unite my passion for the planet with adventure. I will trek amongst heritage-listed forests, swim through underground caves, take a skywalk and come face-to-face with endangered orangutans . All donations made will help Greenpeace to investigate, expose and confront those responsible for forest destruction and provide viable solutions to protecting forests around the world.

This is a HUGE! personal challenge to me as I am currently very unfit and need to lose around 17kg's to achieve my goal weight! I have started training in the Gym and walking everyday, and will be undertaking various fund raising activities over the coming months.
Hopefully I can achieve my goals with your help and make this world a slightly better place!
Update 30/06/2012: So far I have managed to lose 6.5Kg’s! 10.2Kg's! 11.9Kg's and have hit my target goal of $3950.00! (A big Thank You to all who have supported us!) My Partner Bren and I have been trying to get as fit we can for this trek, but have been slowed down over the past few weeks with some kind of persistent bug! :( Rest assured though, we will complete this trek come hell or high water! This is something I never thought I would be doing 12 months ago! This trek will be no holiday and will be extremely hard on us both physically and mentally. We feel it is important to bring attention to the plight of the Orangutans, as if we don't do something now, then the only place you will see these creatures is in the Zoo!
The forests are being wiped out at an alarming rate, all for the sake of creating palm oil plantations. The 130 milion year old rainforests are being used for things such as creating toilet paper! Surely we can use renewable forests for this kind of thing!
Along with the target amount above, my partner and I must also raise over $4000 each in travel related costs, we are doing this as a seperate fundraising drive via raffles, social events etc. If you would like to help us here or even donate some goods for auction, please let me know via stevemc181@gmail.com
