Borneo Jungle Challenge 2012
Borneo Jungle Challenge 2012
Story
After travelling to Thailand earlier this year, it was quite alarming to learn of both environmental issues and the issues surrounding Thailand’s environment and native animals and tourism. Travelling with a purpose was the most enjoyable experience and to be able to do that again with this challenge is incredibly exciting and will no doubt be very rewarding!
Borneo’s tropical rainforests and climate provide the ideal conditions for a wide variety of species to thrive. In Borneo's tropical rainforests, endangered species such as the pygmy elephant, orangutans and 42 other endemic mammals not found anywhere else in the world. Other animals in danger include resident birds (37 endemic), 100 amphibians and 394 fish (19 endemic). Borneo is also home to at least 15,000 plants, of which 6,000 are found nowhere else in the world.
So now I find myself off to the wilderness of Borneo for 13 days for Greenpeace’s Borneo Jungle Challenge 2012!
Here are some sites to have a quick look at and maybe share around ~
